In the latest edition of Mac game publisher MacPlay’s electronic newsletter, the company announced that it will be bringing the first person shooter No One Lives Forever to Mac OS and Mac OS X.
No One Lives Forever isn’t your typical first person shooter. It will particularly appeal to fans of “old school” spy thriller television shows and movies. The setting is the 1960’s, and you take the role of Cate Archer. She’s an operative from a covert organization known as UNITY — an agency dedicated to fighting the forces of HARM. Archer goes into battle with a slew of powerful weapons and ingenious gadgets as she unravels a mystery that will take her to exotic locations around the world.
No One Lives Forever sports fifteen different missions spread across 60 levels. Players visit locations in Morocco, the Caribbean, Germany and the Alps. Cate Archer can ride motorcycles and snowmobiles, and will wield weapons ranging from an AK-47 assault rifle to a 9mm silenced automatic, an M79 grenade launcher to a crossbow. The game also features a multiplayer mode with support for up to 16 players, who can take on the identity of more than 30 different characters.
No One Lives Forever is the latest collaboration between MacPlay and Fox Interactive. In fact, their first effort together just bore fruit. MacPlay announced on Friday that Aliens vs. Predator Gold Edition is shipping. In related news, the company last week noted the shipment of Baldur’s Gate II: The Shadows of Amn and the gold master status of another OS X exclusive game — Giants: Citizen Kabuto.
MacPlay said that No One Lives Forever will ship sometime in the second quarter of 2002.
