Who wants their mail sorted by date with the oldest on top?
How to download OS X El Capitan from the App Store even if never downloaded before macOS Sierra was released or purchased is grayed out 26 macOS Sierra doesn't appear in my Purchased list within the Mac App Store. Wacky Mini Golf is a fun game to play, and it ran quite well on my hardware—although I was initially stymied by a QuickTime playback bug that Danlab wasn’t able to resolve.
I bet many do, and Mac OS X Mail seems to like that setup as well. What, though, if you'd love the most recent message on top — or to sort your mailbox by a different criterion altogether?
Fortunately, changing — or reversing — a folder's sort order is easy (if not obvious) in Mac OS X Mail.

To set up Mac OS X Mail so that the most recent message in a conversation appears at the bottom (and the oldest on top):
To see conversations in reverse chronological order, have Show most recent messages at the top checked.
